Support - Live Web Casting Welcome to support for live web casting using StreamCanada.com web casting services with Microsoft Windows Media. Q. Do I need a static IP address for my encoder machine? A. If you are using Microsoft Encoder v7, then yes you will need a static IP address that must be accessible via the internet. Firewall or NAT routers can create problems for users using Microsoft Encoder v7. With Microsoft Encoder v9, you can use the PUSH service to send the audio or video feed up to your publishing point. We strongly recommending using Microsoft Encoder v9. Q. How can I setup my computer to auto start the encoder each time it is rebooted or started? A. If you are running Microsoft windows ME or newer operating system you can use the scheduled tasks service found in control panel. You can setup the scheduled task to run the encoder upon start-up or at a specific time. You can also use the command line parameters to load predefined encoder profiles as well. This is a great solution for 24/7 feeds. Q. Does it matter which network port I use with the encoder? A. No, there is no performance gain from one port to another. Most client select port 80. Using port 80 will help you bypass your firewall, proxy server, or NAT router. We strongly suggest that you contact your network administration for what ports are available on your network. Q. Is there any 3rd party monitoring service for live web casting services? A. Yes. StreamCanada.com highly recommends www.StreamCheck.com if you wish to monitor your live broadcast quality and uptime. Q. Is a 'station' and 'publishing point' the same thing? A. Yes. Both station and publishing point are methods of sending our web casting network your live feed for distribution and delivery.
